What Is a Record Suspension?

A record suspension allows individuals who have completed their sentence and demonstrated law-abiding behaviour to have their criminal record kept separate and apart from other criminal records in the CPIC database. This may reduce barriers to employment, education, volunteering, housing, and travel.

Under Bill C-10 (in force 13 March 2012) the term pardon was replaced by record suspension.

Printed copies of the official Record Suspension Application Guide are available at the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service front counter.
