The Great Tsuut’ina Scavenger Hunt – Year 2

The Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service is excited to announce the SECOND Great Tsuut’ina Nation Community Scavenger Hunt, a summer-long event designed to bring our community together in celebration of our shared heritage, values, and spirit. Also fun. Tons and tons and tons of fun! This event will run from June 25th to August 26th, featuring a series of challenges that will test your knowledge, creativity, and teamwork. From public humiliation to math, there are a million pathways to win, so select your team, select your challenges, and go!

Teams MUST have one Tsuut’ina Nation or Tsuut’ina Community member.

  • Kickoff Date: June 25th with a series of Treaty Day Flash Challenges
  • Duration: June 25th to August 26th
  • Location: Primarily within the Tsuut’ina Nation, with some challenges extending into the City of Calgary
  • Participants: Teams of 2-5 members, with at least one adult per team
  • Registration: Opens June 1st

How It Works

Participants will use the GooseChase app to complete a variety of challenges, including:

  • Live Photos and Videos: Capture moments and complete tasks on camera.
  • Geofencing: Check in at specific locations.
  • Written Responses: Answer trivia questions and riddles.

Point totals are final. We ask you to do awesome things and expect awesome things to be done. If you do said awesome things, the Judges will give you Full Points, the highest number of points possible for any Item. However, bonus points are a major factor. For example, if we ask for a car and you give us the Batmobile with both George Clooney and Adam West inside, you will get bonus points. If we ask you to do something in public and your team is wearing teletubby costumes, you will get bonus points. Based on last year, the inclusion of a cute dog will grant you bonus points. But all points are final.

Points are awarded based on the difficulty of each challenge. Flash challenges will be introduced periodically for the chance to earn bonus points. The challenges blend cultural exploration, physical activity, problem-solving, and creativity. Expect to decipher riddles, solve puzzles, visit cultural landmarks, complete physical activities, and document experiences through photos or videos.

Officer Team Competition

A team of uniformed officers will participate as “virtual challengers.” Compete against them to earn recognition and prizes! Also, bragging rights that your team beat ours!

Prizes and Recognition

Prizes will be awarded to top-performing teams based on the completion of tasks and challenges. Special recognition will be given to teams demonstrating exceptional teamwork, creativity, and cultural appreciation. Bonus points are built into the system to motivate teams to go above and beyond. Secondary prizes may be offered for specific accomplishments or milestones throughout the scavenger hunt.

Safety and Risk Management

The safety and well-being of participants are our top priorities. We have established comprehensive safety protocols, including:

  • A thorough risk assessment to identify potential hazards and safety concerns.
  • Clear safety protocols communicated to participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Educational materials on outdoor safety, cultural sensitivity, and respectful behavior.
  • Volunteer guides and checkpoint monitors stationed at various locations to assist participants and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Continuous evaluation and improvement of the safety plan based on feedback and observations.

Collaboration and Community Involvement

We are ALWAYS seeking partnerships with local organizations, businesses, government agencies, and community groups. Partner organizations can host challenges, sponsor prizes, provide venues for activities, or offer support services. Reach out to the Hunt organizers if you’d like to join in!
