The Wisdom Keepers for Our FutureFor the community, from the community, by the community; creating spaces for our youth to become The Wisdom Keepers for Our Future.
RKeepers7 is currently supporting initiatives in the community, focusing on youth aged 29 and younger. This initiative seeks to increase resources that offer protection and redirection for those at risk of human trafficking, violence, gang activities, and criminal behaviours. By implementing a community-based prevention and intervention strategy, we aim to support existing programs that promote healing and build protective factors for our youth.
In 2023, Tsuut’ina Nation received a grant, the Building Safer Communities Fund, from Public Safety Canada. This is being managed by Tosguna due to the policing nature of the grant guidelines.
The project, located within the Community Impact & Innovation Section, has been identified as RKeepers7. RK7 intends to support community-driven, culturally relevant projects that address gang activities and high-risk lifestyles among Tsuut’ina Nation youth.
Our Objectives:
- Community Involvement: In early 2024, we began the community consultation process to ensure the strategy was informed and driven by Tsuut'ina members. The information collected from several engagement events and activities was analyzed and disseminated through an external consultant. The process was guided and supported by RK7 Steering Committee made up of Tsuut'ina community members.
- Enhanced Resources: Increasing resources to provide protection and redirection for at-risk youth.
- Support for Existing Programs: Building on successful on-Nation programs and introducing additional resources where needed.
- Youth Wellbeing: Focusing on the mental, physical, emotional, and social health of youth for resilient future generations.
- Cultural Integration: Incorporating traditional ways and healing through generations, strengthening family and cultural systems.
Together, we are investing in the next 7 generations. By focusing on the youth, we nurture the next wave of leaders and caretakers of our Tsuut'ina community. For more information, please contact rkeepers7@tsuutinapolice.com.
