Senior Manager of Strategic Services (Full-Time Position)


Our role as the Police Service for the Tsuut’ina Nation, or Tosguna as we are known in Tsuut’ina (English translation is “Black Soldiers”), is to ensure that our lands and people continue to be protected now and into the future.

This hands-on management position oversees and directs the work of the administrative support section of Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service (TNPS). The Manager of Strategic Services is responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of TNPS applications, records management systems, and TNPS administrative support processes in compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and procedures. Extensive knowledge of office and business management, the Criminal Code, applicable Federal and Provincial Statutes and Nation laws are paramount in this position.
The roles and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
  • Management of all administrative support employees encompassing all training, mentorship, coaching, performance planning, and evaluations.
  • Develop and implement approved initiatives, procedures, and priorities pertaining to the function of the administrative support section.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on interoperability planning to ensure efficiency of TNPS programs, systems, and IT interface.
  • Utilize police databases to effectively review, process, and update TNPS investigative files.
  • Provides and facilitates all oversight, training, auditing, and reporting of statistical data.
  • Oversees all administration, oversite, training, and auditing of police database systems.
  • Performs all requirements associated to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy requests.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Inspector of Strategic Services or Chief of Police.
  • Proficient in office and business administration and management.
  • Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, regulations, and policies related to handling classified/sensitive material and the release of information pursuant to respective privacy legislation and unit security policies.
  • Proficient in Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS) or other Niche based RM systems and experience in other related police databases.
  • Knowledge and application of the methods, principles, and practices used in Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR scoring).
  • Knowledgeable in human resource management - planning, directing, and coordinating the administrative functions of a police service.
  • Relevant post-secondary certificate (minimum) in field related to criminal justice, office or business administration or,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a police service office environment, preferably in a senior supervisory or management role.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in CPIC and PROS workflow (or equivalent records management system).
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Completion of the following RCMP provided courses: CPIC Maintenance; PROS – Records Management System would be an asset
  • The successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications and have reliable means of transportation.
The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal record check and Enhanced Security Clearance.
